Fergus Prescott is the principal surveyor of OceanCraft and has been involved in the yachting industry for more than 30 years. He has a Diploma in Small Craft Surveying with Accreditation in Power and Sail Leisure Vessels, and holds full Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Fergus began his sailing by racing Cadets and then progressed to International Dragons, becoming a member of the English Team in that class. From there he raced extensively with level rating boats of 1/4Tonners and 1/2Tonners. He then formed his own delivery company undertaking the delivery of both yacht and small commercial vessels. He completed many trans-Atlantic and trans-Pacific trips in both power and sailing vessels.
For the last 20 years he has been a "large yacht" captain based in the Mediterranean. In 2000 he began his surveying business using the knowledge he had gained in the field over many years of working with some of the top European yards, involving major refits and new builds. He has a vast experience of the latest building techniques and systems used in today’s vessels.
He has always maintained his interest in classic wooden yachts and currently sails his 1958 Hillyard ,“Vigo” in his home waters of Southern Turkey.
